On the afternoon of December 27th, our university held an offline open class on "General Principles of Civil Law," which was taught by Associate Professor Tan Jianjun, who has been named one of the top ten most popular teachers at Jiangsu University for three consecutive years, and was awarded the title of "Model Teacher Most Popular Among Students" and "Model of Teacher Ethics in Zhenjiang City" this year.

In our daily lives, we often hear statements such as "If you pass the bar exam, I will buy you a suit," "If you get into university, I will give you a laptop," "If it rains tomorrow, I will purchase some rain gear," "Starting next month, our housing lease agreement will take effect," "The contract will terminate before December 31st next year"… In fact, these are examples of conditional and time-limited civil acts as defined in the Civil Code.

This open class used real-life examples to introduce the relevant legal issues of conditional and time-limited civil acts. During the teaching process, the following topics were covered: firstly, the concept, institutional basis, value, types, effectiveness, and protection of conditional civil acts; secondly, the concept, types, and legal restrictions of time-limited civil acts; thirdly, a comparison of these two systems, as well as an introduction to relevant legislative examples from other countries and regions around the world to broaden students' horizons; finally, the class tested students' mastery of knowledge and their ability to analyze and solve problems using real exam questions, analytical questions, and case studies.

Professor Tan's teaching was clear and thorough, providing not only professional knowledge but also conducting a lively ideological and political education for the students, who responded enthusiastically. Young teachers from the Law School and teachers from other departments also observed this open class.
