From November 24th to November 25th, 2018, the 2nd Legal Case Competition for Postgraduates in Jiangsu Province was held successfully in Soochow University.

The competition was sponsored by Jiangsu provincial academic degrees committee office and undertaken by Soochow University. Students from 15 universities including Southeast University and Nanjing Normal University participated in the competition. The representative team of Jiangsu University is composed of four first-grade postgraduates who are studying in Law school. These are Chen Yuelin, Wang Yao, Ji Shanwei and Li Xueru. Under the guidance of Li Bingshuo and Gong Baozhi, these four students finally got the third place. Ji Shanwei was awarded as “The Excellent Debater”.

The 2nd Legal Case Competition for Postgraduates in Jiangsu Province aims at enhancing postgraduates’ practical ability and inspiring them to take a bigger step forward. By mocking the court debate, the competition helps to mould the pattern of legal education and cultivate postgraduates' innovative ability and scientific research ability.

Jiangsu University paid high attention to the competition. In August, under the arrangement of the graduate school, the Law School delivered a specific implementation and completed the on-campus selection. In September, under the guidance of the graduate school, the law school established the guidance group and mobilized relative teachers to actively make efforts to help the representative team prepare for the competition.

The competition is divided into two stages. In the first stage, team members are required to write attorney’s statement. In the second stage, team members would mock the court debate based on the given case. In the two-month preparation process, our instructors and other experts have dedicated much time to the competition. The period of preparation also demonstrates the importance of cooperative spirit.

Participating practical competitions is an important and effective way to reinforce study. In recent years, masters of law in Jiangsu University have paid special attention to the cultivation of application competence. By this way these students have made further innovation and accomplished excellent results.
